Grief isn’t the end of the story…
it’s a new rhythm.
We create room for grief in all its forms through silent disco and movement. Not just the grief of death, but the quieter losses too. With music in your ears and others by your side, you're invited to move through what you're holding, at your own pace.
About Jules
Jules has a soft spot for homemade mix CDs, backyard dance parties, and honest conversations about grief and loss. In 2024, she spun all of that into Blue Funk Disco - a roaming celebration of feeling it all, moving through tough emotions, and finding joy along the way.
Born out of her Capstone project for a degree in Thanatology (the study of death, dying, and grief), Blue Funk Disco is where academic curiosity meets lived experience – and where the expressive arts become a pathway for healing.
Jules began by asking: what happens when we honor our grief like we honor our joy? The answer – we begin to heal. Blue Funk Disco isn’t just about mourning death; it’s about acknowledging all forms of loss – from breakups and career shifts to dashed dreams and personal transformations. Every kind of grief has a place on a Blue Funk Disco dance floor.
Blue Funk Disco is currently based in Chicago, but just like Jules, it can travel. Want to bring it to your city, your garden, your people?
